(Freestone Pottery)
Sally and Tom have been working together, making pottery with their own hands and minds at Freestone Pottery since 1986. Their work is known by their fine craftsmanship and unique decoration. The surface of each piece is graced with verses from the Bible and lovely brushwork flower designs. Each letter is carved into the clay, one by one, and each leaf and petal is created by hand, stroke by stroke. Each piece is signed and dated.
Tom and Sally not only make a complete line of useful pots, but also make a great many custom orders, creating special wording to commemorate weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, births and much more. Sally says, "The real job of the artist is to attempt to join heaven and earth, to reconnect all people and tangible things with the spiritual things that are invisible." Freestone Pottery wants to be taken home, to be used, to speak to people about the love of God, and to sit joyfully in the kitchen with families.
Sally and Tom feel that both their talents and their lives, given to them by God, have been brought together through His grace, to allow them to do this work to His glory. Their commitment to each other, to their work, and to God is clearly expressed in their special stoneware pottery.
In August of 2008, Tom and Sally made the decision to move their home and business from Tennessee to Rhode Island. Still faithfully creating, Tom and Sally can be reached using the information provided and would be delighted to work with you in creating a piece for your collection.
